Midnight Monday - Site Visit Notes

A Monday at Midnight

Major Activity/Circulation Paths: only a small amount of traffic at this time of night (12-12:30am), not too many cars parked either (didn’t record this though sorry)…
- Fairly quiet – only a few cars passing through (as seen in red)
o Small group of old men seated outside the TAB (blue circle)
o Small group of teenagers travelling down Hawke St, as well as one young woman on her way home (as shown in blue)
o A couple up Hawke St toward Errol St/Victoria St

- Other than those few cars and pedestrians, there was not much activity at this time at night.
- Possibly busier on more popular nights than Monday nights? Eg. Saturday or Friday nights.
- Darker areas and therefore seemingly more unsafe – the deserted petrol station on the corner of Hawke & King Streets and also the smaller garden area between King, Hawke and Errol Streets.

Lighting:
- The streets themselves were very well lit and bright however.

Sensory Qualities:
- Open and not uninviting.
- Possibly nice views down towards the Bolte Bridge (South of Hawke St), or if up higher, looking back toward the cityscape, east down Victoria St.
- No real noticeable noise other than that of the few passing cars.
- Seemingly clean and respected by residents (though it was late at night so hard to tell I guess)It was quite pleasant having the open garden area, even at that time of night, perhaps because it was so well lit.
